Sharon Kayser, Executive Director

Sharon has a passion for women and children survivors of domestic violence, having previously served as Executive Director for Rainbow House and as Coordinator for the Children’s Domestic Violence Incubator, a joint project of the Chicago Department of Human Services and the Mayor’s Office on Domestic Violence. More recently, Sharon served as Managing Director for Harmony Foundation International where her work focused on developing fundraising capacity.

She has more than eleven years in fundraising and nonprofit management experience. Prior to that, she spent thirteen years in sales and marketing in the financial services sector. She has also served as a consultant to nonprofits and government in the areas of fundraising and program development.

Sharon has an undergraduate degree in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Chicago.

Intsar Assaf, Financial Controller

Intsar Assaf, CPA (Financial Controller) has a Bachelor’s of Science in Commerce from DePaul University. While working on her degree, she received several awards. She was on the President’s Honor List. Intsar has brought a wealth of not-for-profit accounting experience to Apna Ghar. She oversees nearly $ 1.5 million from different funding sources, private and public. Intsar is committed to insure compliance with all contracts restriction from both government and private funders. Intsar’s drive and enthusiasm, coupled with her experience and expertise, enables her to provide strong fiscal leadership which our organization requires as a result of significant growth. Our auditors, funders and vendors highly regard and appreciate her competence.

Bob Gallenbach, Child Visitation Center Counselor

Bob Gallenbach served as a public school counselor and administrator for twenty years after he earned an MA degree from Northern Illinois University and a B.S. from Illinois State University.  He rides his bicycle in the spring, and cross-country skis in the winter.

Sanjna Das, MSW, LCSW , Program Director

Sanjna comes to Apna Ghar with a wealth of experience. She has more than 18 years of experience in social services and as a clinical counselor. She earned her BA in Human Services from National-Louis University and Masters in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago . She prompted agencies to collaborate on various programs, managed and implemented new programs and supervised other professionals and community leaders for smooth operation. She also has extensive experience designing strategies that help clients navigate court proceedings, home-ownership agreements, and family and intergenerational challenges.

Prior to becoming our Program Director, Sanjna has been a former member of the Board of Directors and has played a pioneering role in the inception and expansion of many programs at Apna Ghar.

Neha Gill, Legal Advocate

Neha Gill grew up in India, Mauritius, and the United States. She received a B.A in International Relations from Knox College in Galesburg, IL. She then studied International Development in graduate school at the University of Minnesota, where she became interested in the issue of women's rights, after interning for a community-based organization in Nairobi, Kenya. She has been at Apna Ghar since 2003, where she supervises the legal advocacy program. Neha is a member of the Association of Women's Rights in Development and a volunteer for Amnesty International. She also serves on the board of the Leadership Center for Asian Pacific Americans and is pursuing further education at DePaul University in Chicago, IL.
