Apna Ghar's Personnel
Aparna Sen, Executive Director
Aparna comes from a very socially active
family with deep roots in social causes in Bengal.
She has a strong academic background with a Ph D., in Communication and
Linguistics. She has teaching experience at the University of Illinois, Chicago in
this field. Aparna has demonstrated her
versatility by moving in to the Information Technology area. For the
past ten years Aparna has been leading the IT group
for the Chicago Housing Authority. Her career in the Public Services
encompassed administration and management of many governmental projects that
are of value to Apna Ghar.
Intsar Assaf, Financial
Controller
Intsar Assaf,
CPA (Financial Controller) has a Bachelor’s of Science in Commerce from DePaul University. While working on her
degree, she received several awards. She was on the President’s Honor List. Intsar has brought a wealth of not-for-profit accounting
experience to Apna Ghar.
She oversees nearly $ 1.5 million from different funding sources, private and
public. Intsar is committed to insure compliance
with all contracts restriction from both government and private funders. Intsar’s drive and
enthusiasm, coupled with her experience and expertise, enables her to provide
strong fiscal leadership which our organization requires as a result of
significant growth. Our auditors, funders and
vendors highly regard and appreciate her competence.
Bob Gallenbach,
Child Visitation Center
Counselor
Bob Gallenbach
served as a public school counselor and administrator for twenty years after
he earned an MA degree from Northern
Illinois University
and a B.S. from Illinois
State University.
He rides his bicycle in the spring, and
cross-country skis in the winter.
Kiran Siddiqui, Program
Director
Kiran Siddiqui
grew up in Nigeria and is
originally from Pakistan.
Kiran completed her Master's in Community
Counseling from Loyola University, Chicago.
Kiran is a Licensed Clinical Professional
Counselor. She interned at a domestic violence agency, which she describes as
her "turning point". Kiran began to work
at Apna Ghar from 2000 as
a non-residential therapist and has served over 300 clients. She is also the
Program director for the Residential Services and the Counseling Department.
She provides individual and group counseling to battered women and their
children. Kiran explains that her work at Apna Ghar is intensely
gratifying and the fact that she makes a difference in someone's life
everyday is very rewarding.
Manju Vats, Shelter Supervisor
Manju has been an advocate on behalf of
women for over 10 years. She was one of the charter members of Apna Ghar and has worked in
different departments of the agency. Manju has a
Masters degree in History from Delhi University,
India, and a second one in
Journalism from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
She has worked for various magazines in New
Delhi including a bi-monthly, Woman's Era. She
speaks three languages fluently, English, Hindi and Punjabi and can speak
basic Japanese. Manju writes poetry in English.
