Apna Ghar educates community groups, health professionals, religious leaders, and high school and university students about cultural issues and domestic violence. Outreach activities focus on raising community awareness about the effects of domestic violence on the entire community, behaviors that are considered to be domestic violence, and available resources. Apna Ghar staff also train college and graduate school interns and hundreds of volunteers on domestic violence issues.
We offer the State of Illinois 40-hour domestic violence training twice a year. The State of Illinois 40-hour domestic violence training certification is required for all staff and volunteers who want to work directly with clients.
